POSITION SUMMARY:
Aerial Line Technician is responsible for placing and lashing coax or fiber; laying and installing all cables in compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Interact and communicate with co-workers and customers in a clear and professional manor.
- Perform operation of aerial lifts, lashers and other construction equipment.
- Work with immediate supervisor, and perform all duties with minimal supervision
- Available for overnight travel on an as needed basis.
- Recognize, practice and enforce Construction safety rules and procedures, demonstrate proficient use of all safety gear
- Keep assigned vehicle in a neat, stocked and organized manor.
- Work normal and odd hours, to include midnight to early morning work as assigned
- Drive large bucket truck, and back/maneuver cable trailer
- Understand the concepts and terminology of system design maps
- Understanding of a forward SLM and its operation
- Perform minor plant maintenance and pole transfers, cut over end of line hardline coax/soft drop cable
- Complete all assigned paperwork in an efficient and timely manner
- Adhere to all Company and departmental policies, standards and established procedures
- Safety is the responsibility of every employee. All safety procedures or policies outlined in the safety manual, and all regulatory requirements (OSHA, etc.) are expected to be followed
. Requirements:PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
- Handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines required
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR screen
- Ability to pass pre-employment background screen and drug test
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, cleaning solutions
- Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
- Work performed near power lines and electricity
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Safely use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of the equipment
- Accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
- Carry, climb, operate and work upon an extension ladder, (approximately 28 feet high and 80 pounds), use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of the equipment
- Differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires, and work with wire to make cable connections
- Perform job from high places (i.e. poles and roofs in addition to an extension ladder)
- Use hand tools in the manner for which they were intended including electric drills, hammers, wrenches and screwdrivers
- Safely walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment including ladders and fully loaded tool belts
- Work while standing 75 to 90% of the time
