Job no: 512823 Job Summary Reporting to the Coordinator of Field Experience and Department Chair(s), the Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator will provide overall management and oversight to the recruitment, advisement, and application process for students applying to the Teacher Education and Special Education Departments at San Jose State University (Departments herein). They will serve as the Departments’ primary resource for planning, developing, and implementing recruitment and admissions policies and practices that align with the College’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. The Coordinator will support recruitment and application processes and website presence for special programs such as our growing teacher residencies, intern programs, and others as they are developed. The Lurie College of Education is committed to preparing transformative educators, counselors, therapists, school, and community leaders. We do this through an emancipatory approach with a focus on four priority areas: community engaged, culturally sustaining, holistic, and interdisciplinary preparation programs. This position is a critical one focused on recruiting and admitting candidates for our teacher preparation programs that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. It involves developing relationships with community, district, college, and SJSU partners to identify and support potential candidates as well as supporting applicants throughout the admissions process.
