Admission Specialist (Administrative Support Coordinator II) Details

Under the general direction of the Enrollment Services Business Analyst, the Admission Specialist will provide administrative support to the Admission People Soft Implementation Team to assist with the conversion from home grown student information system to PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.2.

The incumbent will work with the implementation team to assist with organization of project meetings, documentation of configuration decisions, development of training materials, research of system functionality and CSU processes, and simple system configuration and data entry.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before one year from the date of hire. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.


Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the state regulations, policies and procedures of the California State University system.
  • Prior professional experience working in a university admissions office.
  • Prior professional experience drafting communications/letter/memos on behalf of an organization.
  • Prior professional experience analyzing and interpreting system documentation.

Specialized Skills Required

  • Experience working within the Office of Admissions for a selective, higher-education institution.
  • Experience utilizing PeopleSoft Campus Solutions in daily functions, specifically the Admissions module of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
  • Experience analyzing data.
  • A high level of independent judgment and problem-solving skills are needed to effectively perform the job duties.
  • Ability to review processes and identify deviations from policies and procedures.
  • High-level organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.


Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,208 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,115 - $5,639 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
