Summary:

The Safe Horizon Domestic Violence Shelter program provides safe and confidential spaces for DV survivors and their children. We are committed to providing these services with empathy, compassion, professionalism, non-judgment, and respect. Our spaces respect survivor’ right to self-determination and focus on giving families and individuals the space, both emotional and physical, to heal from the victimization and trauma they have experienced.


Responsibilities:
The DV Shelter Administrative Assistant works with the Shelter Director and Program Assistant to manage the daily administrative operations of the shelter program. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients.
  • Management of the storage and archiving process of the program’s hard copy files, electronic database, and supplies with adherence to agency policies;
  • Organization, inventory and distribution of supplies and donations to residents in accordance with establish guidelines and/or emergency requests from residents;
  • Assisting the Program Assistant with the oversight and management of reconciliation process of program resources with adherence to agency, city, state, and federal regulations;
  • Helping to create and maintain a safe and secure site by using crisis management and de-escalation skills;
  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries with residents and co-workers;
  • Actively participating in donor tours and helping with special resident events and holiday parties;
  • Attending Staff meetings and trainings as requested;
  • Attend mandatory trainings that may occur outside shift hours and shelter location;
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or GED, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically WORD and EXCEL.
  • Two years of prior relevant experience, organization/administrative experience is necessary.
