Medical Administrative Assistant

The community has a need for timely and accurate COVID-19 results and information to protect themselves and others during this pandemic. GS Labs is responding to this call-to-action. We are prepared to provide this testing in a professional, safe environment and need reliable and detail-oriented people willing to join our team. Our testing sites are open from 8AM - 6PM Monday through Friday and 9AM - 5PM Saturday/Sunday. Medical Office Assistants also referred to as "Admins" are expected to arrive 10 minutes prior to scheduled shift. The closing shift may run until 7:00PM or later to conclude all administrative duties and electronic patient notification.
Position Summary:
We are looking for responsible Medical Office Assistants to support day-to-day operations by performing administrative tasks with a strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will perform various tasks daily. The ability to multitask and prioritize is important. We expect you to handle sensitive information confidentially. If you can thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintain organization, work well on a computer, and perform ‘behind the scenes’ tasks, this job may be for you. You will play a key role with ensuring our testing site's smooth operation by accurately completing tasks in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:- Intake patient information from RUNNER to provide to RN prior to test
- Assist with paperwork and recordkeeping
- Update and maintain patients’ health records
- Process insurance claims in compliance with law requirements
- Use medical and accounting software
- Report patient information in timely and accurate manner in applicable systems
- May be asked to audit records to ensure 100% accuracy
- May be asked to pull data from medical and accounting software
- May be asked to answer the office phone and direct patient inquiries appropriately
- May be asked to collaborate with doctors and nurses to stage test/lab supplies or patient forms prior to testing
- Expected to ensure compliance with procedures and the maintenance of confidential health information practices
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Requirements:- High School Diploma or GED required; additional education is a plus
- At least 2 years relevant work experience; medical office experience a plus
- Must be able to type quickly and accurately
- Must possess 2 years’ experience with computer programs in a business setting; experience with accounting and medical software is a plus.
- Knowledge of healthcare operations is a plus
- Familiarity with medical insurance is a plus
- Customer-oriented communication skills required; must communicate effectively - verbally and written
- Ability to multi-task and maintain precise organization in a fast-paced environment required
- Must be able to maintain emotional composure and work collaboratively with other members of the team
- Must be able to effectively take direction from senior medical staff (RN, Doctor, Manager, etc.)
- Ability to follow directions and routine process well
- This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to listen, read, write, and type. The incumbent must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; will work on the computer for extended periods of time.
- The incumbent of this position must show up to work in a timely fashion, possess good hygiene, and be responsible for properly wearing any applicable PPE.
- Candidate should dress business casual or wear medical scrubs; may be patient-facing and must present a professional image. Because these positions are near a door with heavy traffic flow, candidates are encouraged to dress warm or bring a jacket.
