Accountant/Fiscal Analyst II Details

Develops, maintains, and analyzes project data for the Department of Forestry and Environmental Sciences in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences for summary reports. Acts as overseer for payables and performs audits of department to ensure compliance. Prepares reports and projections for fiscal year spending to chair monthly.

JOB DUTIES:

25% - Essential - Process accounts payable transactions for projects to be determined by Department Chair and Principal Investigators in the department via BuyWays. Check accounting error reports daily including budget check, voucher, unapproved vouchers, and unapproved requisitions by researching and resolving appropriately. Responsible for working with project managers to coordinate and ensure compliance with the submission of the assigned department's billing rates before February 1st annually.

20% - Essential - Monitors, analyzes, and reconciles projects within the department, including revenues, E&G, PSA, gift endowments and special allocations. Prepares documentation necessary to keep projects balanced (query analysis, budget amendments, and Excel spreadsheets) on a monthly basis. Performs financial analyses and spending projections of funds. Constantly monitors projects for deficits and notifies the Department Chair and Director of Business Affairs.

20% - Essential - Conducts routine random audits of payments from various projects in the assigned department to ensure compliance with Clemson University's procurement and State policies and procedures. Provides information and individual training to faculty and staff to avoid potential problems via BuyWays, VISA transactions, and travel vouchers. Communicates with departmental employees regularly to educate on University and State procurement policies and procedures. Attends departmental meetings to reiterate procurement information and train faculty on new procurement policies and procedures as needed.

20% - Essential - Queries, researches, calculates, forecasts and prepares financial summaries for Department Chair. Provides pertinent financial data for Department Chair's use in making financial decisions to benefit the department. Prepare special projects and analyses at the department level as requested. Works with departmental administration, Development, and the College Business Office to ensure spending is done accurately and appropriately according to the annual budgets and agreements for Clemson University and Clemson University Foundation gift and endowment projects.

15% - Essential - Processes travel reimbursements for faculty, staff and graduate students in assigned department. Processes VISA charges for cardholders in assigned department as receipts are submitted. Reports any discrepancies or concerns to Department Chair and College Business Office.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent

Work Exp - 1+ years of professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending
