Nature of Work THE DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: UNDER THE GENERAL SUPERVISION OF THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND/OR THE DESIGNATED SUPERVISOR, PERFORMS ADVANCED ACCOUNTING DUTIES. ASSISTS IN DEVELOPING AGENCY BUDGET AND PREPARING THE AGENCY’S EXPENDITURE SCHEDULES AND APPROPRIATION REQUESTS FOR SUBMISSION TO THE STATE BUDGET OFFICE. PREPARES AND MONITORS THE AGENCY’S BUDGET THROUGH BUDGET VARIANCE REPORTING. PREPARES THE AGENCY’S FINANCIAL PROJECTS AND/OR FISCAL NOTES. COMPILES COMPLEX REPORTS AND SCHEDULES TO SUPPORT GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTING ENTRIES AND FINANCIAL STATEMENT PREPARATION. PERFORMS MONTHLY COST ALLOCATIONS FOR MULTIPLE GAMING TYPES AND LOCATIONS USED IN PREPARATION OF THE MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. ASSISTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. PREPARES AND REVIEWS MONTHLY PURCHASE CARD TRANSACTIONS FOR BUDGETARY IMPACT. REVIEWS WORK OF OTHER STAFF MEMBERS. PERFORMS RELATED WORK AS REQUIRED. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH WVOASIS. TRAINING: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.

EXPERIENCE: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in professional accounting or auditing work.
EXPERIENCE FOR THE AREA OF STATUTORY ACCOUNTING: Four years of fulltime or equivalent part-time paid experience in statutory accounting.
SUBSTITUTIONS: (1) Master's degree in accounting may substitute for two years of the required experience. (2) Certification or registration as a public accountant in West Virginia may be substituted for the training and two years of the required experience.
FOR FORENSIC ACCOUNTANT/AUDITOR POSITIONS:
TRAINING: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in professional, forensic, public accounting; investigative and/or forensic auditing; certified fraud examining; or other directly related forensic experience.
NOTE: Preference may be given to applicants holding a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Forensic Accountant (CFA), Certified Evaluation Analyst, or applicants who have completed a graduate certificate program in forensic accounting and fraud investigation.
AREA OF ASSIGNMENT: Statutory Accounting
