CALCAP Properties?is currently looking for a skilled Property Accountant to join our team in Phoenix, AZ

Job Summary:

Responsible for daily financial reporting activities such as preparing general and standard journal entries, monthly statements, sales tax, performing closing processes and problem solving. You will also be responsible for supporting the property's goal of achieving the highest Net Operating Income possible. Full Cycle Accounting for a portfolio of properties, including and entering accruals & reclasses. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a collaborative approach that possesses strong organizational, communication, financial reporting, and analysis skills. Expertise with Yardi Voyager and accounting experience within a property management organization is essential.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Preparation of financial statements and management of supporting documentation
  • Analysis and reporting of financial results
  • Updating forecasted results based on actual results achieved
  • Prepares, reviews, and reports on actual versus budget variances
  • Prepares property production and KPI reports weekly and monthly
  • Collaborates with Community Managers to ensure accurate and timely pre-close activities are recorded
  • Performs a variety of tasks in a calm and controlled manner
  • Takes initiative to research and complete projects
  • Acts as innovative and/or creative source to consider solutions to problems
  • Proactively follows up with clients regarding their inquiries about property financials and reporting metrics
  • Performs cash management functions
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations for property checking accounts
  • Calculates and prepares statements of cash flows for properties in the portfolio
  • Ad Hoc reports as requested

  • College degree in accounting/finance or related coursework preferred

  • Business Intelligence, LRO familiarity, Yardi, SharePoint a plus.

Other Job Functions:

  • Prepares monthly reporting packages for fee management clients
  • Works with the Managing Director, Regional Manager and Community Managers to develop and maintain annual property budgets
  • Tracks completion of lender requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Works well as part of a team

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, Yardi Payscan experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
