Academic Advisor and Assistant Director of Student Services Details

Assist in advancing student success strategic priorities and advising, inclusive excellence, equity, and enrollment management in the College of Education and Social Services (CESS) as part of the Student Services Team. Serve as a primary academic advisor to internal transfer students, and to a cohort of students enrolled in certain CESS majors, minors, and certificate programs. As one of the Assistant Dean’s advising designates for CARE/Case Management and students on academic probation, provide outreach, guidance, interventions, wellness engagements and coaching, and resource coordination. Assist to create and coordinate specialized enrichment activities for FTFY, and BIPOC students. Coordinate and lead programs, public and educational events, faculty-partnered educational engagements, and projects within a designated portfolio for the enrichment and retention of undergraduate students, and recruitment of prospective students. Perform resource roles for the Office of Student Services: serve on internal and external committees; facilitate forums and engagements to help raise student “voice” and deepen student experiences; oversee orientations and events for prospective students and FTFY students; implement incident management communications; create surveys and analysis reports; perform systems and data management; and oversee marketing. Adhere to numerous University and CESS deadlines, policies and procedures. Effectively liaise with students, faculty, staff, student boards, and the public to foster an inclusive and accessible environment. Work effectively at the nexus of academic and student affairs. Supervise student interns and work-study students. Report directly to the Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs.Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of relevant experience with student success services and student-centered advising, enrollment management tactics, academic programs, event coordination, and liaising with the public required. Proficiencies with data management, research or surveying, spreadsheets, marketing, and software applications to support administrative functions required. Effective organizational, interpersonal, public presentation and oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and organize multiple tasks to coordinate projects and events required. Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively in a team environment required. Demonstrated commitment to helping advance diversity and inclusion priorities required.Desirable QualificationsPrior experience working with DEI priorities and/or within diverse communities desirable. Prior experience with student conduct, wellness programs, initiative development, and work positioned at the academic and student affairs nexus desirable.
