Job Summary:
The 2nd Shift Extrusion Operator sets up, operates, and tends to the extrusion machines to produce custom thermoplastic sheet. Utilizes retained knowledge of products and material to produce top quality sheet. Applies mechanical skills to make adjustments to machines and ensures product is produced to meet customer requests.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures and temperatures, amounts, and dimensions, and flow of materials or ingredients using pre-algebraic formulas.
- Examine, measure, and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to standards, using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and scales using basic math.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure maximum and accurate output and make adjustments when applicable.
- Start-up, set-up, production, and clean-up including die splits, adapters, and screws. Ensure sheet produced is in compliance with Quality Standards by performing Quality Checks.
- Review Production Books, specifications, or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, components, settings, and adjustments.
- Operate a fork truck when setting up machines, preparing finished goods for shipping, etc.
- Identify exact materials being used, maintain accurate production reporting, and demonstrate understanding of material flow.
- Select and install machine components such as dies, rolls, and cutters, according to specifications, using hand tools and measuring devices.
- Record and maintain production data such as meter readings, and quantities, types, and dimensions of materials produced accurately.
- Notify supervisors when operation fails to meet production and quality standards.
- Inspect equipment and/or materials to identify maintenance issues, the cause of errors, other problems, or defects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent required
Additional Qualifications:
· 1-3 years of experience required
· Plastic Extrusion experience preferred
· Demonstrated interpersonal skills
· Knowledgeable in safety, and productivity processes
· Understand and follow Lean Manufacturing philosophy (5S/Kaizen) a must
· Must be able to work independently as well as being able to work with a team environment
· Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
· Must possess strong organizational, and communication skills
· Must be detail oriented
· Must be able to handle multiple tasks and multiple projects

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
