Serves, as needed, as the initial/referral point of contact for individuals requesting access to services. Check and maintain EMR system, schedule appointments and collect co-payments. Provide and assist consumers with accessing clinical and supportive care services/resources in the community. Conduct financial resource interviews to determine primary payers, verification of benefits and eligibility. Contact insurance companies to gather policy benefits/limitations such as deductible amounts, co-payments and effective dates. Review, monitor and collect reimbursements/co-pays as they relate to the Monthly Maximum Fee Schedule. Obtain, research and analyze comprehensive information in order to coordinate with the Billing Department as needed. Assist consumers and their families in enrollment process for Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, SNAP and Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP). Participates in Random Moment Time Study (RMTS-If and when selected). Must be able to function in a highly complex work environment. Complete all required documentation; and assist supervisor and other Center staff with special assignments or projects. This position ensures all activities support the mission, values and goals of StarCare Specialty Health System.
*HOURS: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to meet program needs.

Graduation from accredited college or university in a Human Services Field (Family Studies, Sociology, Psychology, etc.) and one year of related experience preferred. (Education and experience may be substituted - 30 hours of college equals one year of experience). Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, fax, copier, printer, pager, etc.) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required. Knowledge of C.A.R.E. system and CMHC is preferred. Local travel using personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement is required. Must have current Texas driver’s license and be insurable under center insurance.
