The Lead Manufacturing Specialist will be involved with the engineering, production, and maintenance related demands associated with the manufacturing process of metal goods with a concentration on the mechanical machinery, tooling, and consumables involved, minimizing down time and inefficiencies. This position will recognize through expertise and experience the issues and constraints within the manufacturing process and look to resolve and manage by hands on participation.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Support departments to include Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Procurement/Purchasing, Production, Shipping/Receiving.
- Oversees all program creation and/or modification of prototypes and new or modified part request.
- Organizes and procures tooling needs and dispositions replacements and additions of new tooling/ machine repair parts.
- Ensures related production machinery/tooling is in safe & optimal working performance through PM’s, Inspection, POP, and replacing/upgrading consumables, software, and hardware involved.
- Participates in defining training processes for machinery down to set up and operator level with emphasize related to situations of new manufacturing technology
- Reports, participates in investigation, and resolves rework/remake of all non-conforming parts/ quality issues in a timely manner.
- Conducts in-process inspections and verifications of finished parts to ascertain continuous part and process quality conformance.
- Formulates recommendations to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, as well as for improvement of working conditions, the workforce, and overall operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Promotes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to company policies, process, and procedures.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related field and experience.
- Minimum 5 experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- 5 plus years supervision experience with good leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand drawing/print specifications.
- Extensive knowledge in the area of Sheet Metal: welding, machining, fabrication, press brake operation, punch press, turret press, laser, shear & powder coating.
- Must have strong decision-making skills that are supported by data collection, data analysis, and statistical process control expertise.
- Start-up and shut down of all machines and auxiliary equipment in the department.
- Must have good mechanical knowledge, hands on skills and computer skills.
- Preferred experience with Lean techniques including Six Sigma.
Physical Requirements * Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs frequently. * Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently. * Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.
- Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
