Location: Central Point, OR
Position Purpose
This position performs manufacturing and fabrication tasks to aircraft parts and components in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Erickson requirements.
Job Leveling
The three pay grades for this job description are 24 (Job title I), 25 (Job Title II), and 26 (Job Title III). These positions require different levels of experience, job knowledge and skills. The characteristics for each level are:
The Job Title Aircraft Mechanic Fabricator I (Level 1) is distinguished from the Job Title Aircraft Mechanic Fabricator II (Level 2) by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned within the series. Employees at this level may have only limited experience and receive regular instruction or assistance in the performance of their assigned duties. One to three years’ experience is desirable. Advancement to the II level is based on demonstrated proficiency in all duties & responsibilities.
The Job Title Aircraft Mechanic Fabricator II (Level 2) is distinguished from the Job Title Aircraft Mechanic Fabricator I (Level 1) by the performance of the full range of duties & responsibilities. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of company Procedures and SOP’s. Advancement to the III level is based on demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of the job, and successful completion of project responsibilities with minimum oversight. Four to nine years of experience is required.
The Job Title Aircraft Mechanic Fabricator III (Level 3) is distinguished from the Aircraft Mechanic Fabricator II (Level 2) by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties including assuming project management responsibilities when assigned. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained and aware of all applicable Procedures and SOP’s. Additionally, they mentor others and foster technical growth. The employee at this level must hold an Airframe and/or Powerplant license. Ten or more years of increasingly responsible experience is required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Works with close tolerance dimensions, and pneumatic tools.
- Performs manufacturing, fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts and components documenting work per company, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Reads, interprets, and complies with Repair Station Quality Manual, Production Certificate Quality Manual, Standard Operation Procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, Technical Manuals, Drawings, and Specifications.
- Works in a team environment and follows Erickson’s Values Charter.
- Achieves and maintains task qualifications for all work performed.
- Travels as required to meet company and customer requirements.
- Performs administrative duties e.g. Time entry, DAX, Training classes, create, revise and use department documents, etc.) as required by Erickson company and department requirements.
- Orders, receives and returns parts in accordance with company policies
- Maintains an organized work area and good housekeeping practices.
- Performs Lean, Standard work and continuous process improvements.
- Mentors, trains, and coaches new employees when qualified as a mentor or trainer.
- Performs duties of an Inspector if task qualified. Percentage of time required is different for different Inspectors based on the quantity of areas employee is task qualified to inspect and work load in department.
- Works with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and products to perform required tasks.
- Responsible for the care of precision measuring equipment, tools and test equipment and benches.
- Complies with all company policies and Standard Operating Procedures as a team player.
- Provides support to internal and external customers to meet customer requirements.

Engineer - Help Engineering develop, review, and create ORR’s, ORI’s, Manuals and drawings.
Team Leader - Communicate with other departments to help accomplish company goals and requirements.
Mechanic, Inspector, Technicians, etc. - Communicate with other employees to help accomplish company goals and requirements.
External Stakeholders are:
Supplier - Help supplier with questions concerning maintenance and manufacturing
Customer - Help customer with questions concerning maintenance and manufacturing. Perform work for customer
FAA Inspector, Auditors, etc. - Answer questions and explain processes.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of FAA and aviation industry requirements and regulations to perform manufacturing fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts and components.
- High School Diploma or equivalency, Valid Driver’s license
- Use tools, equipment, manuals, drawings and specifications to perform aircraft part and component manufacturing and fabrication.
- Level 1: 1-3 years - In aircraft manufacturing and/or fabrication.
- Level 2: 4-9 years - In aircraft manufacturing and/or fabrication.
- Level 3: 10 plus years - In aircraft manufacturing and/or fabrication and have an Airframe and/or Power plant license.
- NOTE: Years of experience determines the base level, but must in addition have the knowledge and skills for that level or they will be raised or lowered a level to determine their actual pay grade level. Schooling/training is not to be included in years of experience
- Desired - Airframe and/or Power plant license, FCC license.
- Must be able to communicate verbally in an accurately and professional way. Written documents must be clear and concise
- Work 40 or more hours per week as directed (overtime, weekends, etc.)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as directed and drive company vehicles or rental vehicles as directed.
