Job Description
- REPORTS TO: Campus Principal
- High school graduate or GED from an accredited institution
- 48 hours of college coursework
- Pass Spring Independent School District’s NCLB test in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (Tests are administered after the recommendation for hire)
- Educational Aide II Certificate (Or willing to obtain)
- Have obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university
- One+ years’ clerical experience
- One+ years’ experience working with children
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work well with children
- Must speak Spanish and English fluently
- Provide instruction and assistance in using library media center resources including computers and audiovisual equipment.
- Distribute books and media upon request.
- Assist students in the proper use of the library media resources.
- Inventory equipment and materials in library media collection for the purpose of documenting losses and/or maintaining availability of materials.
- Shelve all incoming books, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain physical and computerized files and publisher catalogs.
- Assist Library Media Specialist in promoting library media use.
- Collect and maintain records of student fines.
- Assist in preparing memos, orders and other correspondence.
- Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt
PAY GRADE: Para 2
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Library Media Center Aide will assist Library Media Specialist in maintaining the library media program, implementing age appropriate programs for students, selecting appropriate items in support of classroom instruction and educating students on the proper use of the library media resources.

The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following:
Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, moderate standing, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs. Overtime is required as necessary.
