After School/Homework Counselor

Overview: The Homework Counselor works under the supervision of the Corps Officers (CO), promoting social, emotional and physical development of children enrolled in the program, while completing homework tasks for school.

The Counselor is responsible for leading and overseeing all recreational/educational and homework activities of children enrolled in the program.

Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (20 hours/week)

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and lead activities and games and homework during the program.
• Counsel children who are having problems or refer them to the Corps Officers.
• Uphold program policies and rules.
• Ensure kids are on time for all activities.
• Keep track of children at all times.
• Report any health or emotional problems observed in children to Corps Officers.
• Attend any staff meetings that may include further training sessions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• College students/graduates with previous child care experience preferred.
