Responsibilities:

  • Must have knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques including the placement of anchors, familiarity with a wide range of tools and equipment, ability to read and understand prints/maps, safety rules, and GO 95 infraction
  • Experience climbing poles utilizing a 28ft ladder, pegs and or gaffs
  • Hang aerial fiber drop lines from terminals located on poles to customer premises. This includes midspan drops and or pole to pole
  • Pull underground fiber drop lines via conduit paths from underground terminal vaults to customer premises
  • Per company safety policy work attire is as follows. Denim or construction type pants. Long sleeve shirts (preferably bright green, orange or yellow). Lineman work boots with steel shank. Climbing belt, safety glasses, safety gloves, safety vest and hard hat. Volt detector a plus

Qualifications:

  • Valid CA Driver License
  • 6 months of experience in the utility construction industry +
  • Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground & aerial utilities
  • Install and repair underground & aerial telecommunications cable
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment such as; hammer, wrenches, drills, 28ft ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more.
  • Ability to climb telephone poles and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
  • Able to perform duties in telecommunications construction (such as; new build, cable installation, & over lash)
  • Ability to set up & maintain safe work areas
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • May be required to work over-time; after hours; Mon to Fri

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. You will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift.
  • Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and hardhat
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
  • Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens
  • Must be able to lift/carry 75 lbs regularly as needed
