Aging and People with Disabilities (APD), part of the Oregon Department of Human Services , is currently looking for one full-time, permanent dedicated and compassionate individual to provide services as an Administrative Specialist 1. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING The person in this position is responsible to coordinate customer service for public reception, telephone reception and support services. This position also provides analytical and statistical support for the Program Manager and Supervisor to control, monitor and report program performance against agency and local goals and objectives. The person in this roll exercises oversight of business services, personnel and payroll functions that will determine the field offices' compliance with agency policies and procedures; ensuring appropriate control of negotiable instruments and assets, committing budgeted expenditures. As personnel administrator, decisions and work can impact employee pay, benefits, workers' compensation and employee training. Incumbent responsiveness can directly impact the sufficiency of office facilities, telephones and computer equipment. Additional duties include but are not limited to assisting with Homecare Worker Registry activities by:
  • Maintaining Authorized Designee “credential”;
  • Requesting Criminal History Checks;
  • Making fitness determinations
  • Participating in panel when required;
  • Assisting in interviewing HCW applicants at bi-monthly orientations
  • Provider maintenance input
WORKING CONDITIONS General office working conditions. Occasional travel to Salem primarily for training. May encounter hostile individuals, people with hearing and speech difficulties. THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of clerical/secretarial experience which included:
  • Two years at a full performance level performing typing, word processing, or other generation of documents AND
  • Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.
