Job Description
This position reports directly to the Major:
  • Serves as administrative support for the administrative Captain and the DHO officer.
  • The DHO recorder will assist with the preparation of letter, memorandums, disciplinary reports and other documents for the Major, administrative Captain, and DHO.
  • Maintains files pertinent to the inmate disciplinary hearings.
  • Ensures that Major disciplinary hearing are entered within allotted time.
  • Ensure scheduling and preparation of appropriate paperwork for DHO.
  • Process incoming mail, reports, and correspondence.
  • Request and maintain supplies.
  • This position will also act as the back up for administrative assistant to the Warden as needed.
Must successfully complete four (4) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A High School diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma.

  • Two (2) years of clerical experience;

OR
  • A Degree may be substituted for the work experience.
May be required to have experience in use of personal computer. Strong Microsoft applications experience.
