This position, in the Administrative Services Section of the Bureau of Laboratories, supports the Bureau's mission of providing clinical laboratory testing, advice, consultation, and quality assurance standards to all who require or deliver medical diagnostic services; and to ensure services are accurate, reliable, timely, state-of-the-art, cost effective, and delivered in a responsive and courteous manner, through its responsibility for leading HR activities, budget, and fiscal management activities, and supervising staff responsible for purchasing and accounts payable, inventory management, shipping and receiving, facilities maintenance, data processing, management of various licenses and permits, and management of the Bureau of Laboratories' automotive fleet.
Performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities, including assigning, prioritizing, and reviewing work; maintaining position descriptions; conducting employee performance management; approving/disapproving leave and travel requests; participating in staffing activities; coordinating employee discipline; and training staff, including coaching and team building.
Public Health Emergency Response – This position may be given an assignment to support the public health emergency response mission of the Department of Health. Emergency assignments could at times be received with little or no advance notice, and may continue for any period of time – ranging from a few hours to several weeks, depending on the nature of the circumstance. The emergency assignments may at times be performed under adverse conditions and may require travel to another site other than the employee’s assigned headquarters for a period of time.
Qualifications:

- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Administrative Officer 1; OR three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and a bachelor's degree; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
