Job Description

The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost seeks an individual to serve as an Administrative Generalist, providing exceptional administrative and operational support to several core areas within the office. This position will function as member of a larger team of professional support staff and will take on a broad array of responsibilities.

The Administrative Generalist’s duties include maintaining one or more executive/senior staff member’s calendar(s), fielding phone calls, creating, and maintaining files, drafting routine communications, as well as initiating financial transactions (e.g., reimbursements, purchases, reconciliations), and making business travel arrangements. There will also be times when this position will be required to represent the Office of the Provost to visitors/callers, including greeting constituents/guests, triaging needs, and referring constituents as needed or coordinating appropriate action for a response. In addition to delivering high-level administrative support, the Administrative Generalist will help ensure office operations function in a professional and predictable manner and will manage, track and coordinate follow-up for various special projects.

A Bachelor’s degree, or significant relevant experience in lieu of a degree, and a minimum of three years’ experience in an administrative role is required. Preference will be given to candidates with at least five years of administrative experience and to those candidates with experience in higher education. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, and service orientated, able to multi-task and handle multiple competing priorities, as well as have a proven track record of professionalism, strong communication skills (both written and verbal), initiative and attention to detail. A high degree of professionalism and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues with tact and discretion is required. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 is required, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Experience with other computer programs is preferred.
