Job Description

The primary function of a IR Scheduler is to schedule all types of Interventional Radiology visits (procedural and clinical) for the Department of Radiology at all sites within UCSF using the Radiology Information System (Radiant). Scheduling these appointments includes the following process: schedule examination in Radiant, create a visit in APeX, obtain/update insurance and demographic information and working closely with the Nurse Coordinator, patient and/or clinic with scheduling all the necessary preparation for the examination.

Attention to detail is a must. Knowledge of Interventional Radiology procedures and the associated requirements of the examination are required. Some of the requirements might include, scheduling anesthesia, labs, requesting admission, and pre-op appointment. IR Scheduler is a team player who works closely with others and who is flexible in dealing with the changing priorities. Individual is self-reliant and who can synthesize the knowledge of practice operations in order to problem-solve, prioritize and facilitate daily complex transactions. The individual must be thorough, detail oriented, have excellent people skills.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
  • High School graduate with four years related experience; or college degree and 6 months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Radiology and/or combination of hospital experience and knowledge of Radiology
  • Excellent customer service and communication/interpersonal skills, both over the telephone and directly.
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with patients.
  • Ability to analyze situations, prioritizes tasks, and develops solutions and make recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to sit at a computer terminal with telephone headphones for extended periods of time.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Strong writing skills to include the ability to compose, edit, and proof a wide variety of documents.
  • Proven ability to deal with a wide variety of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UCSF Accounting and School of Medicine policies/procedures on travel, meeting and entertainment; expenses, purchasing and vendor payments and strong document editing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with agency and UCSF policies regarding purchasing and reporting, restricted costs and general spending & carry-forward guidelines.
  • BA or BS Degree in related field
  • Prior experience organizing meetings, including travel arrangements, logistics and expense reimbursement
