Purpose of JobThe adjunct faculty member is expected to teach courses in ASU School
of Nursing BSN Program.
Scope of ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include didactic and/or clinical instruction within content areas of expertise, participation in curriculum development, and facilitating the procurement of clinical sites for clinical experiences. The adjunct faculty member must demonstrate success in the classroom by developing and using highly effective teaching strategies that meet the needs of diverse students; that promote the acquisition and application of knowledge, development of critical and creative learning and problems solving skills. The adjunct instructor assignments vary from semester to semester, depending upon the instructional needs of the department. Courses in the BSN program comprise the following:

Essential Job Functions
- Implements appropriate instructional methodologies to foster and promote the teacher-learning processes.
- Facilitates the development of course objectives, outlines, and students’ performance expectations. ·
- Maintains prescribed clinical and classroom teaching assignments.
- Grades assignments, provides feedback and post grades according to University guidelines.
- Assesses the instructional needs of students in the program and help coordinate the development of a plan to address these needs.
- Cooperates with other faculty in carrying out activities designed to enhance the quality of instruction, within the department/university.
Other Duties: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in nursing is required.
- One year of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
- Must satisfy a criminal history background check.
- Experience in undergraduate education preferred; skill in on-line education a plus.
Licensing and Certifications
- Candidates must be eligible for or currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Mississippi. Selected candidates must complete the State of Mississippi Registered Nurse licensure process prior to appointment.
- National certification in an area of clinical specialty or nursing education is desired.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

- Ability to integrate academic standards, performance character, and the principles of ethics and integrity in all aspects of job performance.
