Danfoss is offering you an exciting career opportunity as an Additive Design and Manufacturing Technician Intern at our Ames, IA site.

Job Responsibilities


Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Complete all tasks as required to run 3D printers in the ADM Center in Ames, IA
  • Preparation of 3D print jobs on computer using relevant software
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs when needed
  • Maintain a running inventory of parts printed
  • Track completed builds as well as material waste due to failed builds
  • Maintain machine build schedule, prioritize job orders and provide projected completion date of projects using Software as selected for the ADM Center
  • Perform finishing of 3D printed parts using various post- processing equipment
  • Perform 3D scanning
  • Give regular feedback on improvement strategies for AM Technologies to the ADM Center Managers and supervisors
  • Participate in regular trainings related to safety, quality and operations (Internal or External from Equipment Manufacturers)
  • Maybe required to travel to Equipment Manufacturers / Operators training seminars. Trainings can also be located at other Danfoss ADM Centers in US, Europe or Asia.
Background & Skills


  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience in Service Bureau / 3D Printing Labs / University AM Centers etc. can be used in lieu of the education

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and become proficient in the use of new and existing technologies
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, as machines can break down and production deadlines can be very tight
  • Be very detail oriented
  • Ability to organize time and be able to perform multiple routine and non-routine tasks in multiple functional areas
  • Lean and 5S Oriented. Safety and Quality are of utmost importance to Danfoss
