- JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
- One (1) of the following required:
- Associate’s Degree in Human Services, Addiction Studies track (must include successful completion of two (2) internships related to Addiction Studies degree program).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Addictions Counseling, Social Work, Counseling or a related field plus one (1) year experience in Alcohol and Drug treatment.
- Five (5) years experience in Alcohol and Drug treatment.
- CADC-R, CADCI or NCACI required within one (1) year of hire. Higher certification (including CADCII, CADCIII, NCACII, MAC and LCPC) preferred.
- Experience in a substance use or addiction treatment setting required.
- Experience with trauma informed, evidence based practices required.
- Documentation of current and continuous abstinence required in accordance with certification requirements of MHACBO in the case of a recovering candidate.
- Healthcare Provider Level BLS required within 30 days of hire.
- Master’s degree in Addictions Counseling, Social Work, Counseling or a related field preferred.
- Experience and/or training in the following preferred:
- Working in various levels of care including IOP and residential.
- Medication Assisted Treatment.
- Recovery support systems.
- Group facilitation.
- Computer applications.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Adaptability/Flexibility - Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients.
- Stress Tolerance and Self Control - Ability to maintain patience and composure, control emotions, set clear boundaries and moderate high stress, difficult situations.
- Service Orientation - Successfully apply knowledge of various resources/models of recovery to assist and care for others.
- Communication and teamwork – Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team. Brings others together and tries to reconcile differences.
- Knowledge of substance abuse treatment/counseling with the skills to perform trauma-informed care and gender-responsive treatments.
- Provides direct service to patients in Samaritan Treatment and Recovery Services programs in a manner that reflects our commitment to trauma informed, evidence based practices.
- Samaritan Treatment and Recovery Services provide a continuum of substance abuse services to adults and their families. Members of the Samaritan Treatment and Recovery team work in a multi-disciplinary approach, in both residential and outpatient settings providing evidenced, trauma informed treatment.
