What you will be able to do:
We bring engineering ideas to life. In DAT, we make driving more exciting, enjoyable, and safe. Ford’s DAT team designs and develops features like BlueCruise (hands-off driving), Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist and 360 Camera Systems.

We are seeking professionals who can contribute to our efforts with experience and passion in the development of features, functions, sensors, ECUs, models, and software. This position is about the system functions, elements and interfaces of vehicle architecture related to vehicle control. It will likely also involve other elements of the process because we are more interested in adding high quality people to the team than trying to squeeze engineers into a specific role.
  • Propose and define strategies for partitioning lateral and longitudinal vehicle control across and within multiple electronic control units including ADAS, Brake, Steering and Propulsion
  • Apply deep understanding of safety-focused functional partitioning, allocation and interfacing to ensure robustness, reliability and safety through design reviews, system analyses and testing
  • Work closely with Research, Vehicle Architecture, ADAS and Vehicle Motion Control Technical Experts and Implementation Teams to define optimal solutions for delivering Vehicle Control
  • Collaborate with external interface providers and receivers, both in-vehicle and in-development, to define safe, efficient and clean communication strategies
  • Drive collaborative solutions to concepts and defects across multiple domain teams including features, hardware, software, functional safety, cyber security and verification & validation
  • Support verification & validation efforts with internal teams and suppliers to ensure requirement and design-intent compliance and quality
  • Host communication sessions to present technical information and elicit feedback from cross-functional participants
The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 1+ years of experience developing electrical and, or software systems
  • 1+ years of experience with system modeling, analysis and requirements management methods and toolsets
Our preferred requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Extensive skills with modeling (Simulink) & functional knowledge of embedded software design (C, C++)
  • 10+ years of experience as a System Architect for automotive electronics products
  • 10+ years of experience developing automotive electronics
  • 8+ years of experience developing safety-critical embedded software in security-critical systems
  • 7+ years of experience in ADAS and/or Autonomous Vehicle product development
  • 5+ years of experience in Automotive Stability Control, Braking or other Lateral/Longitudinal Controls
