PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION:
The primary purpose of our position is to assist the Director of Activities in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator to assure that an ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident is maintained.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensure all staff comply with facility privacy practices policies and procedures.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on the level at which they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
  • Must participate in continuing education and in-service training.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience implementing activities in a health care setting is preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferably an Associates or bachelor’s degree in Recreation or a related field. Completion of an accredited Activity Director Certification Program preferred.
