ABOUT THIS POSITION
What You Will Do
The primary area of responsibility will be:
- Monitor accounts to ensure receivables are current
- Apply payments received into the accounting system
- Reconcile payment remittance advices received
- Perform regular collection calls and/or emails with customers
- Research invoice discrepancies and resolve any issues with customers
- Assist with invoice changes, invoice inquiries, and account statements
- Liaise with operations and brokers on deal inquiries
- Communicate any delinquent accounts to upper management and brokers
- Reconcile monthly bank statements
- Responsible for adding new vendors and collection of W-9s and/or tax exemption certificates
- Enter vendor invoices and subsequent payments in e-banking module
- Identify and properly record fixed asset purchases
- Process employee expense reports including reviewing approvals, general ledger account selections and data input
- Assist in general ledger analysis
- Responsible for accounts online mailbox including answering all emails in a timely manner, forwarding emails to appropriate parties, etc.
Secondary areas include but are not limited to:
- Review of health insurance plans upon annual renewal
- Train new employees on expense report processes and procedures
- Assist with planning and organizing company events
- Annual preparation of 1099s
- Work with associates across all divisions, departments locations to answer questions or research issue
Skills & Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and competencies:
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts receivable/payable principles
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in recording of journal entries, auditing and reconciliation of accounts
- Familiarity of audit concepts and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) a plus
- Strong organizational, time management and working under pressure skills
- Results-oriented with personal accountability
- Excellent attention to detail, quality and control
- A self-starter, able to work on own initiative with a willingness to take responsibility
- Capable of delivering information in an efficient manner
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent education experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience in accounting/ bookkeeper capacity
- CPA a plus
