Lenovo is seeking an Accessibility Design Consultant to join the Product Diversity Office team to integrate accessibility into Lenovo’s products and processes. The user is at the core of everything we do here at Lenovo and your expertise is needed to help bring the voice of our customers with disabilities into the design process.

In this role, you’ll be using your knowledge of Accessibility and Disabilities to help integrate accessibility into Lenovo’s software and hardware products- so they are usable by people with disabilities. You will evaluate software for conformance to WCAG 2.1, analyze the functionality of assistive technologies for visual, mobility, hearing, cognitive, and speech impairments. You will drive improvements by communicating accessibility research findings to technical and non-technical audiences including product management, design, and development. The scope of this role will be across Lenovo’s business’s and will include our PC, Smartphone, and Data Center products.

To achieve these goals, you will collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Program and Project Manager, User Experience Designers, User Researchers, Data Scientists, Product Developers, Product Managers, and Executives to review designs/concepts in the development process and provide accessibility feedback during the development of new products.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and testing skills to scale initiatives across a large global organization.

DESCRIPTION:

Primary responsibility is to systematize accessibility as a part of the Diversity by Design process across Lenovo. Other duties include:

  • Promote accessibility within the organization; advocate for considering accessibility as a vital part of the customer experience.
  • Support accessibility testing.
  • Plan and perform web accessibility testing with assistive technologies such as JAWS, VoiceOver, and ZoomText, with the understanding of their interactions with multiple browsers and platforms.
  • Educate and inform project teams on the proper methods for implementing digital accessibility in a variety of web, mobile, hardware and document systems.
  • Lead and present accessibility training sessions to internal and external audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional project team members and business peers to propose the best experience for the end user.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms with colleagues, management, and external parties both in the U.S. and other countries.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years professional experience with Accessibility standards and guidelines such as WCAG, Section 508, CVAA, and ADA compliance.
  • Technical skills include knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Passion for technology, accessibility, and overall quality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all channels.
  • Ability to utilize a network of relationships to collect and disseminate information, build support, and secure buy-in for desired objectives.
  • Demonstrated desire for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ability to work under pressure managing multiple projects/requests simultaneously while successfully coping with interruptions and redefined priorities.
  • Language proficiency: Excellent written and verbal English.

** Currently this role will be remote but will be onsite in North Carolina once Lenovo returns to the office.

PREFERRED:

  • 4+ years in the digital accessibility space with a deep understanding of technical skills.
  • Experience working with AMP (Accessibility Management Platform) a plus.
  • Experience working in a global company.
