ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and schedule surgeries, follow-up appointments as designated by physicians.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy to appropriately schedule all exams for Surgical Services.
- Creates and maintains daily schedule and complete edits in a timely manner.
- Completes all necessary paperwork prior to pre-op appointments.
- Obtains referral and authorization from PCPs or insurances
- Coordinate pre-op testing with outside medical doctors i.e., blood work, EKG, and medical clearance in a timely manner.
- Follows-up with medical doctor’s office and internal imaging techs to ensure that all the pre-op results are back in a timely manner to ensure timely procedure starts.
- Informs the patient regarding activities that will take place during his/her visit.
- Works closely with the front desk staff when discharged patients need to schedule surgery in order to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Demonstrates knowledge of third party payer, pre-authorization, and other financial class regulations.
- Considers priorities and special needs when scheduling surgical appointments
- Discuss and counsel patients on surgery information, guidelines, facility and date and time of procedure, as needed.
- Obtains diagnostic tests and places diagnostic test reports in appropriate section of patient medical record.
- Demonstrates adaptability and accepts change in a positive manner.
- Responsible for keeping current with corporate communications such as email, daily huddles, and internal network such as the Pulse, SJEN, etc.
- Present and ready for work in designated area at assigned time and dressed in appropriate work attire.
- Readily assist other staff members upon completion of assigned duties.
- Understand and adheres to all departmental policies and procedures.
- Responsible for completing and maintain all required training relative to job function.
- Exemplify a strong adherence to the professional code of conduct.
- Maintains a professional and positive attitude and demonstrate a supportive and understanding behavior when in contact with patients, providers, employees, and patients.
- Follow all policies and procedures mandated by St. Joseph’s Physicians and the Government regarding HIPAA and OSHA.
- Abide by the policies and procedures set forth in the St. Joseph’s Physicians employee handbook.
- Perform duties and assist providers as part of the practice care team. Take part in daily team huddles and/or other periodic team meetings to facilitate communications and enhance positive patient experiences and quality delivery of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives as part of the practice care team.
- Insure job functions align with office policies and procedures and patient-centered medical home standards.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
- Verification of insurance via RTE
- Creating cases to add to OR or ASC schedule
- Obtaining authorizations for scheduled services
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience in a radiology department preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of general office machines and telephone system
- Familiarity with identification of medical documents
- Comprehension of medical terminology related to tests and procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
- Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities
- Maintain high degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information
- Proficient in MS Office applications which include Outlook, Word, Excel
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year experience in an office environment and/or health care setting preferred.
