Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Absence & Leave Partner in Middletown, Ohio. The Absence & Leave Partner will administer the non-occupational disability plans and/or FMLA for the company.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate medical documentation for non-occupational disability programs and FMLA.
- Maintain non-occupational disability programs and FMLA disability management software with claims information.
- Follow up with employees and treating physicians to get updated information and documentation.
- Process claims for weekly payroll.
- Maintain a variety of daily, weekly and monthly reports using tools such as spreadsheets and disability management software.
- Complete daily administrative tasks of the including filing, faxing, copying, and organizing files.
- Communicate to all levels of the organization, employees and business partners through written, oral, electronic and in-person communication.
- Utilize discretion when dealing with the public and employees on sensitive, confidential matters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A degree is preferred.
- 1 year generalist experience within a Benefits Department is preferred.
- Knowledge of Social Security applications and/or FMLA.
- Knowledge in non-occupational disability or FMLA management software is preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll procedures to facilitate claim payments is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
