Job Description

POSITION: Saw Operator

COMPANY: Pallet Service Corporation

LOCATION: Maple Grove, MN

Position Summary:

The Saw Operator will perform machine set-ups per print, and complete routine wood cutting tasks in a pallet manufacturing environment. They will receive raw materials, cut-to-length, stack and band materials for production. They may also code or label pallets for tracking and inventory purposes. This is a very repetitive and physically demanding position.

2nd Shift hours : Monday - Thursday, 4pm - 2:30am

Wage: $16/hr + piece rate bonus and benefits

Job Duties:

Saw Operation:

  • Cut lumber for production and stack per specification
  • In accordance with work orders, set-up machine per job to cut wood to the proper length
  • Use digital control panel to enter in the appropriate dimensions required
  • Verify that cut material is within acceptable tolerance for production use
  • Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

Quality Assurance:

  • Evaluates lumber making sure it meets specifications; takes corrective action as required.
  • Inspects and measures lumber as necessary, during or after assembly, according to established guidelines and quality standards.
  • Pull damaged or faulty items from the production line.
  • Follow established work procedures and perform work assignments as required to meet all quality and production goals.

Accurate Production Reporting:

  • Ensure proper labeling of finished items and ensure that they are packaged properly.
  • Accurately completes appropriate documentation.
  • Completes required job control, inventory, and related reports.

Safety:

  • Responsible for reporting any injuries that take place in the workplace to a supervisor IMMEDIATELY.
  • Complies with all PSC and OSHA mandated safety and health guidelines.
  • Maintains compliance with all policies and procedures pertaining to safe and clean work environment using all control points, equipment, and resources.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read simple manufacturing drawings.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic mathematical skills to include fractions and decimals.
  • Working knowledge of tape measures.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and lift 50 pounds.
