Food Safety Role & Responsibility:
As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, Food Safety Plan, Listeria, Food Safety and Quality Statement, FSSC 22000/Global Food Safety Policy/Food Safety Goals, Visitor/Food/Site Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Some additional items include: Color Coding, Waste Management, Rework, COOL Labeling, and Startup-Changeover.
The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.
Summary:
The PMO Trainer will be responsible for developing and training Packaging Machine Operators; this includes traditional classroom training and on-the-job training. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for evaluating and tracking performance and progress of PMOs.
Job Function Statements Essential Functions:
Responsible to train and monitor the following PMO functions:- program machines using keyboard and terminal for the proper size, weight, codes and dates for each bag produced and run.
- verify set up of machine; verify that the machine has been properly put back together from sanitation crew along with scales and their proper function.
- ensure a clean and organized working environment.
- ensure that the products are safe and meet the customer specifications.
- communicate quality issues of raw product or finished goods to the appropriate personnel.
- machine set-up, general machine operation and changeovers.
- the completion of all paperwork including, but not limited to, dump logs, chemical logs, downtime logs, blade inspection sheets and line staffing sheets.
- follow and complete the daily production schedule, including changes that may occur during the course of the day.
- report and record hourly production updates.
- responsible to train and monitor PMO's on the following product quality checks when needed:
- percent oxygen testing (salad plant only)
- cut quality and blend ratio evaluation
- total volume testing (salad plant only)
- package weight monitoring
- seal integrity (leakers testing)
- finished package temperature monitoring
- code date verification
- bar code readability verification
- documentation of all results and actions
- Able to identify gaps in skill set and develop an action plan to train the PMO.
- Assist with performance measurements, reviews, and communication of progress.
- Responsible for development of PMO skills and ability in order to optimize machine efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure the accurate recording of all data and documentation related to the packaging machine area.
- Communicate to operators any quality, efficiency, safety, mechanical or processing issues.
- Report any unsafe acts or situations to a Supervisor immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position
Required Qualifications/Skills:
The incumbent must be able to work 6 consecutive days, overtime, and weekends as necessary.- Ability to train others.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic mechanical and math skills.
- Posses the ability to write routine reports.
- Be capable of meeting all required testing frequencies (detailed, fast-paced work).
- Be capable of operating measuring instruments, such as the weight scale and thermometer.
- Be capable of performing basic math calculations and use a calculator.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Able to lift 25lbs.
2. Stand for the duration of the shift (8 hours or more).
3. Bend continuously throughout the shift.
4. Able to work in a noisy, wet and cold environment of approximately 36 degrees Fahrenheit.
5. Perform repetitive motions for the duration of the shift.
6. Able to stand and walk for extended period of time.
7. Able to reach with hands and arms to check product.

Some PLC/Electronics knowledge
HS Diploma, GED, or Technical School
Past training experience
Experience:
Minimum 4-5 years packaging and weighing equipment experience or 2-3 years packaging equipment trainer experience.
