21ST CCLC ENRICHMENT/ INTERVENTION PROGRAM TEACHER

JOB DESCRIPTION REVISION DATE: September 1, 2015

DEPARTMENT / SCHOOL: Curriculum & Instruction

REPORTS TO: School Principal and Site Coordinator

SUPERVISES: Participants in 21st Century Community Learning Centers Programming

POSITION GOAL: To collaborate with the middle/high school principal, building staff, grant
managers, community partners and parents to implement enrichment programs in an after-school
program for students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists principal and site coordinator in targeting, recruiting and retaining participants for
the programming

2. Maintains accurate student attendance records on a daily and weekly basis
3. Communicates programming to families in accordance to school policies
4. Creates an environment conducive to learning and motivates students through effective

communication evaluative feedback
5. Implements school improvement plans and policies
6. Plans mini lessons and programming for enrichment activity and/or plans mini lessons and

programming for interventions using summative and formative assessments and
communicates progress to students and families

7. Regularly communicates with students’ teachers, site coordinator and principal about
programming

8. Assists administration in monitoring student behavior and implementing student discipline
policies

9. Other duties as assigned by principal

KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS:

1. Knowledge of particular enrichment activity
2. Ability to plan activities with objectives
3. Strong communication skills
4. Ability to interact with and manage children grades 7-12

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Bachelor’s degree in related subject from accredited university preferred
3. Appropriate Illinois teaching certificate preferred
4. Teaching experience is preferred but not necessary for hiring.
  • Experience in at least one of the grade levels of a multi-grade is preferred.
  • Preferable recent experience in the sought position.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

1. Must work in busy, noisy and crowded environments.
2. Must work indoors/outdoors as the job requires.
3. Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
4. Public contact requiring appropriate business-like apparel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
2. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift carry, pull, or push
heavy objects or materials.
3. Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
